Albers to race for Audi in ALMS

Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters Audi-driver Christijan Albers will make his sportscar debut next weekend. Albers will drive a Audi R10 TDi in the American Le Mans Series final at Laguna Seca.
“I’m delighted to be given this chance by Audi, I consider it a special treat to be able to compete in an Audi R10 TDi at Laguna,” said Albers.

“Together with Emanuele Pirro, I hope to be able to achieve the targets Audi set us at the season finale.”

The Dutchman will drive together with Emanuele Pirro instead of Marcel Fässler, who instead will drive FIA GT at Zolder. Albers driving for Audi in ALMS is one step for the German manufacturer to evaluate drivers for 2009.

“We are faced with the task of rejuvenating our sportscar driving squad for the future. Christijan has impressed us in the DTM and certainly has the potential to be successful in sportscars,” said Audi Motorsport boss Dr Wolfgang Ulrich.
