Audi replaces Scheiders engine
Audi has decided to change Timo Scheider’s engine as a precautionary measure. During Scheider’s first flying lap, the German driver hit the curbstones in the first corner. This damaged the engine cover, splitter and suspension of the Audi A4. His mechanics were able to get the championship leader going again, but the engine might be damaged to much due to the incident.
“According to the data I have flown five meters, that’s how hard I was going over the curbs”, Scheider said.
During a press conference at the Hockenheimring, Audi Sportchef Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich announced the engine will be replaced. This won’t cause a penalty for Scheider, as a driver is allowed to change an engine once a year.
