Results of the TcT DTM-awards

In the first three rounds of the TouringCarTimes Awards 2008, the readers of our website could vote for the best driver, best rookie, best privateer, best team and best manufacturer in the British and Swedish Touring Car Championship and the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters. The results of the BTCC and STCC have been released earlier. Now all the votes for the DTM have been counted. See here who has won the DTM Awards.

Best driver 2008 – DTM
He had a sensational season start, but had a hard time just after the middle of the season. This didn’t prevent Timo Scheider from taking the title in the last race of the season, nor did it prefent him from being elected as the best driver in DTM by the readers of TouringCarTimes.

Runner up in the championship, Paul di Resta, ended second in the elections as well, with almost twice as much votes as third placed Mattias Ekström.

1 – Timo Scheider – 44,3%
2 – Paul di Resta – 29,9%
3 – Mattias Ekström – 15,0%
4 – Tom Kristensen – 3,6%
5 – Gary Paffett – 1,8%

Best rookie 2008 – DTM
There were four rookies in the DTM this year. With a smashing margin it was Britons Oliver Jarvis who got elected the best of them all. He took 72% of all the votes.

1 – Oliver Jarvis – 72,0%
2 – Ralf Schumacher – 11,6%
3 – Katherine Legge – 9,1%
4 – Maro Engel – 7,3%

Best privateer 2008 – DTM
With a large margin, Gary Paffett has been elected as best privateer driver of 2008. He received twice as much votes than runner up Alexandre Prémat.

1 – Gary Paffett – 41,1%
2 – Alexandre Prémat – 19,6%
3 – Oliver Jarvis – 8,6%
4 – Mike Rockenfeller – 6,7%
5 – Christijan Albers – 6,1%

Best team 2008 – DTM
After bringing their driver Scheider to the title, Team Abt now get’s the acknowledgement for their work. They were voted best team in DTM in 2008.

1 – Audi Sport Team Abt (Kristensen/Scheider) – 34,6%
2 – Mercedes-Benz Bank AMG Mercedes (Spengler/Di Resta) – 27,8%
3 – Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline (Ekström/Tomczyk) – 27,2%
4 – Salzgitter/Original-Teile AMG Mercedes (Green/Schneider) – 3,7%
5 – Audi Sport Team Phoenix (Prémat/Jarvis) – 1,9%

Best manufacturer 2008 – DTM
A hard battle throughout the season was won by Audi. In the TcT Awards they have beaten Mercedes as well, with 76,5% of the votes.

1 – Audi – 76,5%
2 – Mercedes – 23,5%
