Ekström & Scheider offered 3 year deals

Deutscue Tourenwagen Masters Audi-drivers Mattias Ekström and Timo Scheider have according to our information been offered a new three year contract. The deal is reported to be worth 4.5 million euro each. But the final signature has not been done yet. The reason for this is said to be questionmarks regarding Audi’s commitment for another three years.

Scheider clinched his first ever DTM title 2008 after seven seasons of trying. The German joined Audi in 2006 while team mate and previous double DTM champion Ekström has been with the German manufacturer since 2001.

2008 was the final season of the 3 year program announced by Audi ahead of the 2006 season. So far the decision on further commitment to DTM from Audi has not been announced.

The current financial situation is one of the reasons of Audi looking over their motorsport commitments, but the fact that Audi launched the new A4 last year should indicate that they will continue.
