Düsseldorf to host DTM launch again
Fans will once again have the chance to see DTM cars in action on the streets of Düsseldorf, as the city hosts the official launch of the DTM season for a fourth consecutive year.
Taking place on the city’s exclusive ‘Königsallee’ from 13.00 to 18.00 on Sunday 19th April fans will have the chance to see the DTM cars in action on a specially created circuit, giving spectators the chance to see motor racing at close quarters.
As well at the presentation of the 2009 DTM grid, there will be spectacular demonstration runs of the DTM vehicles, pit stop challenges and stunt shows to entertain the public.
In 2008 more than 200,000 fans attended the show, and once again in 2009 all those visiting will have the chance to meet the DTM stars, including reigning champion Timo Scheider, in the open paddock, where there will be autograph and interview sessions in addition to all the on track action.
Commenting on the announcement, Chairman of DTM promoters ITR, Hans Werner Aufrecht said: “In the past three years, the DTM Launch in the sports city of Düsseldorf always proved to be a highlight on the DTM calendar”, while Düsseldorf’s Lord Mayor, Dirk Elbers, promised that the city “will give our very best to again provide the crowds a unique experience featuring an informal atmosphere.”
In addition to the presence of the DTM machinery, the cars of the support series – Formula 3 Euro Series, ADAC Volkswagen Polo Cup, Porsche Carrera Cup and Seat Leon Supercopa – will also be on display, ahead of the first round of the DTM at Hockenheim on the 17th May.
