Lauda and Di Resta out – Senna in?
While Audi presented their drivers for the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters 2009 a while ago, Mercedes still have not presented their drivers. Recent information suggests that Mercedes could reduce their number of cars this season from nine to eight. Mercedes boss Norbert Haug has confirmed that they are talking with Bruno Senna to join their squad. But who will leave the team?
According to our information Mathias Lauda is on the way out. The Austrian is reported to be negotiating with teams within the FIA GT Championship.
A second driver is needed to leave Mercedes if they are to reduce their number of cars from nine to eight.
Paul di Resta could be the second driver to leave. The Brit finished second in DTM 2008, only four points behind champion Timo Scheider. Reports say that di Resta is on the way to GP2.
“I cannot say what my plans are yet. There’s still a few fine details which need to be ironed out and agreed. I should be in a position to let you all know in two or three weeks,” said di Resta on his webpage.
