Senna tests for Mercedes at Hockenheim
Bruno Senna is testing for Mercedes at Hockenheim for an evaluation of a works drive in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters 2009. The Brazilian drove the Mercedes C-Class for the first time yesterday and will continue today.
“It has been fun so far and I have enjoyed getting onto the pace quite quickly in this car,” said Senna.
“I don’t underestimate the level of competition in the DTM though. It is a great series, high profile and good wheel to wheel racing.”
Mercedes Motorsport boss Norbert Haug underlines that no deal has been done yet. But the German manufacturer is very keen to get the Brazilian in the team.
“Today, Bruno Senna got his first whiff of DTM air and he enjoyed it. He’ll be testing again tomorrow and then we’ll all sit down and decide what happens next,” said Haug.
Recently Senna tested a LMP1 car at Paul Richard for Team Oreca. The main goal for the Brazilian is to get in to Formula One, but there are no seats available any longer for this season.
“There is much to discuss but that close racing and focus on outright speed in this category could suit me very well and could certainly be one new experience that can add value to my career as I aim for F1 in the future,” said Senna.
