Ekström prepares for Nürburgring 24 hours

Double Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters champion Mattias Ekström was entered for an endurance race at Nürburgring last weekend as a preparation for a possible entry in the Nürburgring 24 hour race.
“For the first time in my career I have raced a Porsche and it was big fun,” said Ekström after the qualifying session.

But Ekström never got to drive the race as his team mate Wolff was involved in an accident on lap five. The team had to retire before Ekström got the chance to drive.

The team had qualified in pole position with the Land Motorsport prepared Porsche 911 RSR. The Swede thoroughly enjoyed driving the fast Porsche.

“The car’s handling is just great,” said Ekström.

Ekström is not confirmed yet for the legendary 24 hour race of Nürburgring that takes place on the 23/24th of May. But it is not unlikely that we will see him behind the wheel of an Audi R8 in the race.
