210 000 fans at DTM presentation

The classic Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters presentation in Düsseldorf took place yesterday. A total of 210 000 spectators gathered around the city streets to see the new cars and drivers of 2009.
“For us, it is always a happy moment when we see how popular the DTM is. There is something for the entire family. That is what makes the DTM so special”, said Hans Werner Aufrecht, chairman of the ITR.

The spectators got to see the DTM cars, and support classes, in action at the streets of the city.

The DTM teams performed pit stops and the drivers were lined up for autograph and interview sessions.

Mercedes man Ralf Schumacher was present and thrilled about the atmosphere of the event.

“The people in Düsseldorf are just so enthusiastic, it is really electrifying. A new record crowd yet again – just great. I am really feeling well here,” said Schumacher.

The DTM season 2009 starts on May the 17th at Hockenheim.
