Oliver Jarvis tops Hockenheim day one

Oliver Jarvis topped the first Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters test on German soil.
”It was a very successful day of testing for my team, Phoenix, and for me,” said Jarvis to DTM.de.

“We learned quite a lot about our new 2008-spec car regarding both the qualifying and the race set-ups. Assessing the progress of our competitors is difficult but we are very happy with what we have achieved.”

The Brit lapped Hockenheim in 1:33.551 and was only three thousands of a second faster than Mercedes driver Maro Engel.

Gary Paffett was third fastest in the 2008 specification Mercedes C-Class, three tenths behind Jarvis.

Fourth was Markus Winkelhock ahead of reigning champion Timo Scheider and Ralf Schumacher.
