Penalties issued after qualifying
The Stewards of the Meeting have issued penalties to Mercedes drivers Ralf Schumacher, Maro Engel and Jamie Green. The three drivers drove more than the allowed eight laps during the third part of qualifying. Because of this, they were also not allowed to start in the fourth and final part of qualifying.
The drivers times were disallowed, and instead the stewards used their fastest times from the second session. Because of this, only Audi driver Katherine Legge benefits from the penalties, as she now will be starting from fifth place, instead of eighth. Engel, Green and Schumacher will start from sixth, seventh and eighth.
The drivers will have to pay a 1000 Euro penalty.
Paul di Resta was also issued a penalty. His mechanics broke the parc fermé rules, and the Stewards issued a five places drop on the grid penalty, as well as a 2500 Euro fine. As a result, Di Resta will now start from 15th on the grid.
