Audi could face further exclusions
Audi got four drivers excluded after the race, but the German manufacturer could face even further exclusions. The German Motorsport Authority (DMSB) have announced that they are going to investigate the tactics of Audi during the closing stages of the race at Zandvoort yesterday.
The matter that is being investigated is that the three Audi’s of Oliver Jarvis, Markus Winkelhock and Alexandre Prémat slowed down in the end.
Mattias Ekström charged past them in the end and got no resistance from his manufacturer colleagues.
Winkelhock also slowed down significantly in the end to allow Timo Scheider to fight with Bruno Spengler, who got held up by the slowing Winkelhock.
“We would like to make an examination of what happened in the closing laps of the race, and the course of action that led to some of the drivers’ positions,” said Christian Schacht of DMSB to Autosport.
Because of the investigation the results and championship standings are still provisional.
“Thus the results will remain provisional until the inquiries are carried out. Unfortunately I cannot promise that this will be finalised today, or even the next day.”
