Kristensen and Audi dominates practice
Four Audi drivers claimed the four fastest times in the free practice session at Oschersleben. Tom Kristensen topped the times, followed by Mattias Ekström, Martin Tomczyk and Oliver Jarvis. The first of the Mercedes-Benz cars, was that of Scotsman Paul Di Resta who finished 5th.
Kristensen ran 45 laps in his Audi Sport Team Abt Audi A4, and set a fastest time of 1:22:247, some 0.034 seconds faster than Ekström.
The 2009 Mercedes-Benz cars were, as expected, suffering from the additional 20kg success ballast added after Zandvoort.
On a warm, yet windy day, most drivers were performing long runs in practice, with the focus on finding the optimum race setup.
A few drivers experienced problems in the session, with Katherine Legge suffering from electrical issues which meant she wouldn’t complete many laps in comparison to others.
After 3 races out of the DTM, Johannes Seidlitz failed to make an impression on the time sheet.. He finished last in the session, just behind his KOLLES Futurecom-BRT team mate Tomas Kostka. Kostka was forced to retire from the session with mechanical problems whilst on-track.
Kristensen has a strong bond with Oschersleben, and will be looking ahead to claiming his 3rd DTM victory at the circuit on Sunday afternoon.
TouringCarTimes will be at Oschersleben all weekend, please check back for the latest news from the fifth round of the 2009 DTM season.
