Tomczyk hungry for more podiums

After four disappointing races in this years Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters, Audi works driver Martin Tomczyk was able to fight for the top in the last race at Oschersleben. After the race, in which Tomczyk took his first podium finish of the year in third, TouringCarTimes met with the German.
“I had a wonderfull race! I had a good pace and I could save the tyres after the second pitstop. It was a comfortable race,” said Tomczyk to TouringCarTimes.

The 27 year old Audi man has been unable to match the pace of his team mates Mattias Ekström and Timo Scheider so far this year. But Tomczyk is far from giving up.

“I’ll never give up! I am not doubting my self, especially since two times this year I have lost out due to things outside of my control.

At Hockenheim we had problems with the electronics and at Lautsitzring we had problems with our cooling unit. Only the last race at Zandvort was better when I finished fifth!”

The recent podium finish at Oschersleben has made Tomczyk urging for more visits at the top of the field. The DTM heads to legendary Nürburgring this weekend where the German hopes for another podium finish.

“Nürburgring is a hard and difficult track. Fore sure, we still have ten kilos less then Mercedes, so we should have a chance to fight for the podium again!”

After Nürburgring, the German series heads to Great Britain for the race at Brands Hatch. There Tomczyk does expect things to get a bit harder.

“We have had some good races at Brands Hatch, but it won’t be as easy as it was at Oschersleben!”
