Spengler penalized after qualifying

Mercedes driver Bruno Spengler has been penalized. The Canadian did not have enough fuel in his Mercedes C-Class after the qualifying session. Spengler slowed down after his fast lap and stopped shortly after the finish line.

After the car was inspected, the officials found that his car did not have the required amount of fuel.

The German motorsport authority decided to penalise Spengler, dropping him from fourth to eight on the grid.

Mercedes admitted that the lack of fuel was down to a mistake in the pits. The crew had filled his car up with the wrong fuel can.
