Scheider could be champion at Dijon

Two races and twenty points remain of the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters 2009. Championship leader and defending champion Timo Scheider could secure a new title already this weekend.

Scheider’s closest contender is fellow Audi driver Mattias Ekström, 12 points behind. Lurking behind in third is leading Mercedes driver Gary Paffet, 14 points behind.

Even if Ekström would win the race at Dijon and Scheider finishes second, the title would be Scheider’s.

If the both should manage to end up on the same points and the same number of wins at the end of the season, Scheider would still take the title as he has got the most number of second places from this season.

But if Scheider finishes third or lower at Dijon and either of Ekström or Paffett finishes ahead of him, the decider for the title will go to the finale at Hockenheim.
