Spengler on pole – Scheider 16th

Canadian Bruno Spengler was the only man to get under 1:19 during the qualifying session for the first ever Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters race at the French track Dijon. Mercedes made a strong comeback in the qualifying after being out paced by Audi in practice. Paul Di Resta secured a Mercedes one-two.

A light rain during the session made things difficult for many drivers.

One of them was championship leader Timo Scheider who only qualified 16th. All of his championship competitors (Ekström and Paffett) are ahead of him.

Best Audi man was Tom Kristensen, who topped the previous practice session. Mattias Ekström followed in fourth, with Maro Engel in fifth and Ralf Schumacher in sixth.

Jamie Green claimed seventh ahead of Junge Sterne AMG Mercedes team colleauge Gary Paffett in eight.

Martin Tomczyk and Oliver Jarvis rounded off top ten.
