Gary Paffett: “I will not give up”

Gary Paffett reduced the gap to championship leader Timo Scheider from 14 points to seven after his most recent win at Dijon. Despite that the chances are a bit slim for Paffett to beat Scheider, the Brit is not giving up.
“Hockenheim will be again an exciting race and even with the chances of an underdog I don’t give up,” said Paffett.

“It’s great that I reduced the gap behind Timo Scheider from 14 to seven points,” said Paffett.

One race and ten points remain to be raced for. If Paffett wins the final race, Scheider must be at least fifth to win.

If they end up on the same points, Paffett is the champion because he has taken more victories during the season.

Mercedes Motorsport boss Norbert Haug is a bit pessimistic over Paffett’s chances.

“With a gap of seven points and an extra weight of 10 kilograms after today’s win, the odds for Gary are not the best, but a chance is there at least for the spectators in Hockenheim and the TV viewers,” said Haug.
