Scheider: “Seven points is a decent base”
Timo Scheider’s championship lead was reduced to seven points ahead of the final race of the year. But the German is none the less feeling confident.
“A seven-point lead over Gary (Paffett) and ten kilos less in our new cars is a decent starting base for the finale two weeks from now,” said Scheider.
The Audi driver had a hard weekend at Dijon, starting 16th but was able to get up to sixth position in the race.
“After starting from my poor grid position, sixth place is almost like a small victory. I hardly dared to dream of this before the race,” said Scheider.
While most of the Audi drivers were hit hard by the many punctures, Scheider was lucky.
“I had a few nice duels on my way forward and of course was a little fortunate as well in that the puncture struck me so close to the pit lane entrance, which meant that I didnt lose too much time,” said Scheider.
Paffett has promised a hard fight for the final race, a race that Scheider promises the fans is going to be exciting.
“The fans at Hockenheim can now look forward to a real pinnacle of the season,” said Scheider.
