Ekström fastest at Hockenheim practice
Mattias Ekström was fastest in the first session of the final Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters race of the year at Hockenheim. The Swede lapped the track in 1:32.822, some two tenths faster than team mate Martin Tomczyk in second.
Third fastest was reigning champion and championship leader Timo Scheider, just a couple of hundredths of a second behind Tomczyk.
Maro Engel was the best Mercedes driver in fourth, half a second behind Ekström, with Jamie Green in fifth.
Retiring Audi driver Tom Kristensen was sixth fastest ahead of Scheider’s title rival Gary Paffett.
The Mercedes driver was eight tenths slower than Ekström and only one thousands of a second faster than Mike Rockenfeller in a older Audi A4.
Markus Winkelhock and Oliver Jarvis rounded off top ten. Stay tuned for the qualifying later today!
