Valencia to host 2010 Spanish race

In 2010 the Spanish round of the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters season will be located at the Circuit de Valencia.

Recent negotiations between the DTM organisers and the Circuit de Valencia proved successful, and the race will go ahead on the east coast of Spain, moving from it’s current location in Catalunya.

The Real Federación Española de Automovilismo (RFEDA) published their race calendar last week, with the DTM round at Valencia listed on the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd of May 2010.

Since 2006 a Spanish round of the DTM has been held at the Circuit de Catalunya, yielding two victories apiece for Audi and Mercedes.

Mercedes’ successes both came at the hands of British drivers, with Jamie Green in 2007 and Paul di Resta in 2008.

The Audi wins came either side, with Martin Tomczyk victorious in 2007, and Timo Scheider took the chequered flag on his way to his second DTM title in 2009.
