Ekström happy with Jarvis decision
Mattias Ekström believes that the decision to promote Oliver Jarvis to the Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline team for the 2010 season is a good move by the Audi team.
Jarvis has spent two seasons running in an older specification Audi A4 DTM, and showed great promise in that time, which had not gone unnoticed by both Audi and Ekström.
The space in the Abt Sportsline team was created when Tom Kristensen left the series, and the Audi Motorsport felt Jarvis’ performances over the past two years warranted a chance in one of the latest specification cars for the 2010 season.
Speaking on his website, Ekström said that “I have seen the progress Oliver have done over the last 2 years and I think he deserves a chance in the best car with the best team in DTM”.
Ekström went on to comment on the upcoming testing sessions in the new year.
“There is a test planned soon were I will go together will Oliver and I am sure we will have some fun together”, said Ekström.
In his conclusion, the double DTM series champion took the time out to publicly welcome Jarvis to the team.
“So Olly, Welcome in the team and I look forward to 2010 with you and your speed, passion for racing and some British humour”, added Ekström
For Ekström, the 2009 season provided a significantly barren spell in his DTM career. The season yielded no race victories for the Swede, but his fellow 2009-specification Audi drivers recorded four victories between them, as well a driver’s championship title for Timo Scheider.
