Mattias Ekström aims for third title
Swedish Audi ace Mattias Ekström has got his sights firmly set on a third Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters title in 2010.
“It’ll be crucial to deliver a consistent performance, score points and set some highlights. That’s the way to achieve our big aim, the title,” said Ekström.
Last season Ekström finished fourth in the championship after a season filled with mishaps that prevented him from scoring a single win.
“2009 was the year in which I suffered more mishaps than in any other,” says Ekström.
While the races were problematic last year, Ekström wants to maintain the pace in qualifying.
“We want to fully concentrate on testing, repeat last year’s performances in qualifying and improve in the race,” said Ekström.
The fact that the German series is going to have its finale in China is something Ekström likes.
“I think its great to compete with the DTM in a totally different cultural environment. There are many enthusiastic fans in China who are happy about the chance to get a close-up view of the cars and the drivers,” said Ekström.
