No Mercedes deal for Coulthard yet
Mercedes Motorsport boss Norbert Haug has confirmed to Autosport that David Coulthard has not signed for them, yet.
“Nothing is finalised, this is all speculation at the moment. David did a good job [in the first test] and he was keen to drive once more,” said Haug.
The Scot has obviously got an interest in the German series and the talks between Coulthard and Mercedes started years ago.
“The starting point for this was years ago when David said he was keen to get an impression of a DTM car. I think it’s important for him to know how such a car behaves,” said Haug.
“David is a good friend of Mercedes, and of mine, but that’s not the reason [for the test]. He is a fantastic guy, and he can give us very good feedback as well.”
