Audi drivers seek revenge at Norisring
The Audi drivers are out for revenge at Norisring this weekend. Reigning champion Timo Scheider led the race last year for the majority of the race, but dropped outside the podium in the end.
“We’ve had some unfinished business with Audi at the Norisring for years – and that goes for me in particular after I was leading the race for 80 laps last year,” said Scheider.
Mercedes has completely dominated the races at Norisring, claiming the top spot of the podium for seven years in a row. Last time Audi won at Norisring was in 2002 with Laurent Aiello.
“The Norisring was a Mercedes track in the past. We need to change that this year. We’ve got to try and win there in order to grab points from the Mercedes guys at the top after their strong start to the season. We’ll give everything,” said Audi-man Oliver Jarvis.
Mattias Ekström is currently the highest placed Audi driver in the championship this year in fourth. And the Swede likes it at Norisring.
“It’s nice to arrive at the Norisring – for me it’s the DTM circuit with the most enjoyable atmosphere. Last year we just very barely missed victory there. We’ll try for it again this year,” said Ekström.
