Ralf Schumacher: “I am awfully sorry”

Ralf Schumacher made many raise their eyebrows when he took pole position for the DTM race at Norisring. But the former Formula One driver threw it all away as he got penalized for jumping the start.
“I am awfully sorry for my team that we were not able to show how strong our C-Class was here at the Norisring,” said Schumacher.

Schumacher moved slightly just before the lights went to green, resulting in a drive-through penalty.

“Shortly before the start I was looking for the clutch’s bite point when the car made a brief move whilst the light was still red,” said Schumacher.

The Mercedes driver managed to climb back to 11th position after the penalty and was pleased with his pace, a pace he says would have been enough for victory.

“I gave away a possible race win. My speed was very good which is also demonstrated by my fastest race lap,” said Schumacher.

While Schumacher got zero points from the weekend at Norisring, he says that the strong pace is motivating him for the rest of the season.

“This weekend motivates us even more for the next race at the Nürburgring and for the rest of the season,” said Schumacher.
