Grand-Am continuing discussions with DTM

The Grand-Am organizers are, just as the japanese Super-GT organizers, still negotiating regarding the new DTM regulations set for 2012.
“Things are moving forward, but where that will lead is not something I want to comment on,” said Grand-Am vice-president Dave Spitzer to Autosport.

While the negotiations might not result in the two championships running identical rules, there could still be ways for the series to work together.

“There is more than one way we could become involved. There is an acknowledgement of the different philosophies between a carbon fibre-tubbed DTM car and a tube-frame Daytona Prototype,” said Spitzer.

Although Grand-Am might not run complete DTM specification cars, the Japanese Super-GT series is rumored, according to Autosport, to be headed for a complete switch to the DTM regulations in 2015.
