Top three Audi drivers hopeful for Nürburgring

Mattias Ekström, Timo Scheider and Mike Rockenfeller are the top three Audi drivers in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters 2010. Double DTM champion Ekström, currently third in the championship, says that qualifying is extra important at Nürburgring.
“You’ve only got a chance of winning if you start from one of the front grid positions because it’s very hard to overtake there,” said Ekström.

“The Nürburgring is about finding a compromise between the slow corners and the long straights. That’s the key to a good lap time,” said Ekström.

Reigning champion Scheider says that Nürburgring suits the Audi and is comfortable ahead of the race.

“The Nürburgring should suit our Audi. I’m happy that we’re finally competing on tracks now that tend to accommodate us,” said Scheider.

Rockenfeller is 20 points behind championship leader Bruno Spengler, but is hoping to gain points in his home race.

“I’m looking forward to the Nürburgring. There will be many acquaintances there and there’s always a lot of action for me. I’m looking ahead positively and also believe that we’ll be able to achieve a finish in the points,” said Rockenfeller.
