Spengler tops first Nürburgring test
Championship leader Bruno Spengler ignored the reports of Nürburgring being an Audi track and topped the first test. The Canadian Mercedes driver lapped the track in 1:24.222, one tenths faster than Audi driver Martin Tomczyk.
Tomczyk headed four Audis with Mike Rockenfeller third, Markus Winkelhock fourth and Alexandre Prémat fifth.
David Coulthard was the second fastest Mercedes driver in sixth ahead of Oliver Jarvis and Maro Engler.
Timo Scheider and Paul Di Resta rounded off top ten. Eleven cars were within one second during the test, Mattias Ekström being the final driver within.
