Bruno Spengler pulls away after second win
Bruno Spengler has pulled up a 16 points lead of the championship after his second win of the season. The Canadian won the race at Nürburgring, three seconds ahead of Paul Di Resta.
“My start was mega. Afterwards, it was my target to move away as quickly as possible and that was what I did,” said Spengler.
The Canadian had manufacturer colleague Di Resta close behind him throughout the entire race and was not able to relax.
“It was quite difficult, as there were always a few drops of rain. I thank my team for their great job,” said Spengler.
Spengler crowned an excellent weekend for Mercedes, securing a 1-2-3 and six Mercedes in top ten. Mercedes Motorsport boss Norbert Haug was understandably happy.
“What an incredible one-two-three win, I didn’t expect it that way – great, how Bruno Spengler, Paul Di Resta and Gary Paffett excelled at the top,” said Haug.
