DTM to race on shortened Hockenheim layout

The Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters race at Hockenheim in october is going to be run on a shorter track layout. The construction of the new layout of the track is currently ongoing and will be subject for approval by the German motorsport authority DMSB.

The new version of the track starts 400 meters before the hairpin of the regular Grand Prix layout of the circuit.

The cars will make two sharp right-hand turns before entering the regular track again.

The change has been done by the DTM organisers ITR in order for the fans to see the cars more often during the race. The ticket prices for the race has been lowered by the same amount as the track has been shortened: 20 %.
