Second consecutive victory for Paul Di Resta
Paul Di Resta took his second consecutive victory of the season ahead of championship leader and title rival Bruno Spengler. Mattias Ekström was best Audi-driver in third.
Although Di Resta was not in the lead for the entire race. Spengler managed to get ahead in the first pitstop after a slow stop from Di Resta’s mechanics.
Di Resta was able to get back in to the lead after putting up a blistering pace before his second stop and was able to get out in the lead.
Ekström had a relatively calm race while his team mate saw his title chances going up in smoke. The reigning champion suffered from a puncture and dropped down to eleventh position.
Gary Paffett finished fourth after closing quickly on Ekström at the end, but not getting close enough.
Audi-drivers Mike Rockenfeller and Alexandre Prémat finished fifth and sixth respectively ahead of Jamie Green and Martin Tomczyk. Ralf Schumacher and Susie Stoddart rounded off top ten.
Spengler still heads the championship, seven points ahead of Di Resta. Ekström is now Audi’s sole hope for the title, but being 26 points behind with 30 points left to fight for makes his chances rather slim.
