Paffett pleased after strong drive through the field

Gary Paffett made a strong Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters race at Oschersleben, climbing from tenth on the grid to fourth over the finishing line.
“Considering the qualifying position, I am really pleased with the result,” said Paffett.

The Brit had to overtake Martin Tomczyk twice during the race. Paffett passed the German Audi-driver on lap nine, but the stewards found the move “irregular” and Paffett had to give the position back.

Seven laps later Paffett was able to get back past Tomczyk and set his sights on Mattias Ekström for third.

“It was very disappointing to get a penalty for my move on Tomczyk as I felt confident that without the penalty that I would have been on for a podium finish,” said Paffett.

Paffett was never able to get past Ekström, but is still in the championship fight with three races to go.

“The battle at the top of the table remains close and with three races left to go, my focus is the top step of the podium at all three races,” said Paffett.
