Gary Paffett eyes title fight
Gary Paffett has joined the title fight after the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters race at Hockenheim where the Brit finished fourth. But the challenge is going to be tough for Paffett as he is 16 points behind with 20 points left to fight for.
“As we saw at Hockenheim with Bruno’s retirement, anything can happen with racing and there are still 20 points up to grab so I will be approaching the final two races with the aim of taking both wins,” said Paffett.
Paffett qualified third for the race at Hockenheim, but dropped one position in the race.
“The conditions have been variable all weekend so while I was fairly pleased with P3 for qualifying, the lack of dry running meant we weren’t able to get the balance of the car right so the race was tough,” said Paffett.
Two races remain, Adria in Italy and Shanghai in China. Paffett expects the title fight to go right down to the final race.
“With only two races to go, the aim was always to win this race and pick up maximum points,” said Paffett.
