Gary Paffett: “Everything is open”
Gary Paffett is in it for the DTM 2010 title race with the smallest possible margin. The Brit is nine points behind championship leader Bruno Spengler with ten points left to be fought for at Shanghai.
“I’m still in the title race – let’s wait and see what will happen in Shanghai; everything is open,” said Paffett.
Paffett finished second in the race at Adria last weekend and was in it for the win until he made a mistake and spun.
“We knew it would be difficult in these conditions. The track was slippery and then my rear tyres faded. Moreover, I made a mistake and spun,” said Paffett.
For Paffett to win the title in China, he needs to win the race while title rival Spengler can not finish better than eight and Paul Di Resta can not finish better than sixth.
“While a win would of course have been better, I’m still pleased with second place as it means that mathematically I can still win the 2010 Championship – although it does now totally depend on where both Bruno and Paul finish the final race,” said Paffett.
For Paffett there is nothing but maximum attack on the streets of Shanghai.
“I’m certainly the title outsider going into the final race of the season, but I will be giving it all I can to win both the race and the title,” said Paffett.
