O’Young excited ahead of DTM debut

Darryl O’Young is making his DTM debut this weekend for Audi at Shanghai, and the Hong Kong based driver is looking forward to the opportunity, taking over from the departed Alexandre Prémat.

WTCC Bamboo Engineering driver O’Young, who raced for Audi in the summer at the Sepang 12 Hours in an R8 LMS finishing in a strong second place, will take over the No.9 Phoenix Racing Audi A4 DTM this weekend.

“There’s so much to learn; the car, the pit-stops, I’m just looking forward to the challenge ahead” said O’Young to TouringCarTimes.

“I’m not going to pressure on myself to go out there and set a fast time as it’s all about learning the car, and it’s a street circuit as well, so I’m just going to be a patient and try and do the best job for Audi”.

“I know Phoenix is a very strong team, so I’m looking forward to working with them”.

O’Young was just 1.6s down on pace setter Martin Tomczyk in the first free practice session at Shanghai, though last of the all of the runners, taking 36 laps to learn the car.
