Paul Di Resta fastest in second free practice

Title contender Paul Di Resta was fastest of all in the second free practice session on the streets of Shanghai. The Scot lapped the track in 59.390, just 0.06 seconds ahead of Jamie Green and Markus Winkelhock.

The top four drivers were really close, covered within 0.09 seconds with Green and Winkelhock separated by just 0.003 seconds.

Oliver Jarvis and Timo Scheider occupied places four and five ahead of title contender Gary Paffett.

Martin Tomczyk, who was fastest in the first practice session, managed seventh fastest time ahead of Mike Rockenfeller and Miguel Molina. Swedish Audi-driver Mattias Ekström rounded off top ten.

Championship leader Bruno Spengler was a bit off the pace in 15th, close to a second behind Di Resta’s fastest time. The Canadian caused on of the red flags in this session as he clipped the wall at the end of the lap.

Maro Engel, who crashed heavily in the first session, was thanks to a great effort by the team able to take part in this session. The German managed to complete eight laps in his repaired Mercedes C-Class.

Due to the previous crash of Engel, the pit lane entry has been modified. The barriers have been moved forward about 30 meters in order to make the entry more safe.
