Post-qualifying quotes from the title contenders
Paul Di Resta has got the best possible conditions for the title race after securing pole positions.
“This morning, I was fastest in free practice; this afternoon I took pole position – a great result. Now I have the best chance to win the race and the title. However, qualifying showed that a lot of things can happen on this track,” said Di Resta.
Gary Paffett, with an outside shot at the title, is going to start second in the race, right behind Di Resta.
“I thank my team; my C-Class was top class again today. Pole was possible, but also from second on the grid everything will be possible tomorrow. I want to win and keep my championship hopes alive,” said Paffett.
The championship leader, Bruno Spengler, has got the worst possible conditions ahead of the race after crashing in both practice and qualifying, meaning that he lines up as 17th in the 18 car strong field tomorrow.
“I tried to brake a little later than in practice, but then I was just a little bit too late. This was clearly my mistake and I apologize to my team, because my guys had a lot of work this weekend. They made it possible that I could do a few laps in Q3; however, after the quick repairs the steering didn’t work correctly so I was not able to move up,” said Spengler.
