Lausitzring confirms three-year deal
The DTM will visit the Lausitzring for the next three years at least, after signing a new deal with DTM organisers the ITR.
The EuroSpeedway at Lausitz has been on the DTM calendar since the championship began in 2000, though the first year’s race was a washout and was cancelled, with Peter Dumbreck taking the win for Mercedes in the first completed event in 2001.
Bruno Spengler won this year at the circuit, with Mercedes-Benz often faring well at the part-oval track in the former East Germany, winning nine times, with just Mattias Ekström winning twice for Audi in 2004-2005.
The Managing Partner of the EuroSpeedway, Josef Meier, said he wanted to thank the ITR for the constructive discussions whilst negotiating the deal, securing a three year contract for the first time for the circuit.
The Lausitzring was provisionally scheduled to host the fourth round of the DTM championship next year on June 19th, with this announcement making this official.
