Robert Doornbos in talks with Mercedes

Former F1 driver Robert Doornbos has revealed that he is in talks with Mercedes for a drive in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters 2011.
“We are currently conducting talks with Mercedes and it’s going very well; we’ve been to Stuttgart a few times and I think the DTM would be a very nice route for the future,” said Doornbos to gpupdate.net.

Doornbos raced in F1 during the 2005 season for Minardi before moving on Red Bull as test driver. The Dutchman has most recently been racing in the IndyCar Series and the Superleague Formula.

“We have two difficult seasons behind us in IndyCars and Superleague Formula. In 2011 we want to start with a clean slate and focus on a championship in which you can remain active for a number of years,” said Doornbos.
