Legge looking to return to America

Former DTM race Katherine Legge is looking to return to the United States to compete in the IndyCar Series for the 2011 season, after leaving the Audi DTM team after three years.

“I’m very excited about this opportunity,” said Legge.

“I feel very much at home in America and want to progress my career in the IZOD IndyCar Series and the Indianapolis 500, as it’s such an exciting time for the series and that great race.”

“I moved back to the states at the end of 2010 and am in talks with IndyCar teams and officials.”

Legge drove for Audi from 2008, replacing Vanina Ickx in the unofficial position of the manufacturer’s female driver. Legge herself will be replaced by Swiss driver Rahel Frey at Audi this season.

Katherine Legge drove in the Champcar World Series between 2006 and 2007 for both PKV Racing (now known as KV Racing Technology) and Dale Coyne Racing, famously surviving a scary crash at Road America in 2006 with no injury. Both teams now compete in IndyCar after the series merged with Champcar in 2008.
