Victory and championship lead for Martin Tomczyk

Martin Tomczyk claimed a second straight victory and the championship lead as the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters commenced at Lausitzring. The German started fourth, but managed to get up in to second after just three laps.

The Phoenix Racing driver then got up in to the lead after the first pitstops, passing Bruno Spengler thanks to a quicker pitstop.

Timo Scheider scored his best finish so far this season in second from ninth on the grid. The double DTM champion selected a different strategy compared to the majority of the other drivers with long stints and was thanks to that able to gain a lot of ground.

Pole man Spengler fell down to third in the end, 14 seconds from Tomczyk and enabled Audi to secure their fist victory at Lausitzring for six years.

Gary Paffett claimed fourt ahead of Oliver Jarvis and Jamie Green. DTM returnee Tom Kristensen, who replaces the injured Mike Rockenfeller, crossed the line in seventh.

Filipe Albuquerque took his best ever DTM finish in eight ahead of Christian Vietoris and Maro Engel. Mattias Ekström, who started third, had yet another tough race in 11th with, among other things, trouble in the pitlane with a fuel can still attached to his Audi A4 when leaving the pits.
