Edoardo Mortara wins Munich final of day one
Audi driver Edoardo Mortara beat Mercedes driver Bruno Spengler in the saturday final of the Munich Show Event. The Italian made his way from the first races, beating Rahel Frey, Mattias Ekström and Mike Rockenfeller.
“This is fantastic. The atmosphere in the stadium is incredible. Bruno and I went on full attack and I was fortunately a bit faster,” said Mortara.
Spengler made his way by beating Jamie Green in the first race, Ralf Schumacher in the quarter final and Renger van der Zande in the semi final.
And the race between Spengler and van der Zande became extra eventful as the Dutchman stopped in Spengler’s pit box, losing a lot of time.
The final of the day was held over two five lap races, both including a pitstop. Spengler won the first race with just 0.01 seconds while Mortara took command in the second race and won with a total of 0.3 seconds.
