Bruno Spengler wins Munich day two

Championship leader Bruno Spengler won the second day of the DTM show event in the Munich Olympic Stadium.
“It’s a great feeling to have won this first DTM Show Event at the Olympic Stadium here in Munich. It was tremendous fun driving on this circuit and soaking up the atmosphere,” said Spengler.

Just as yesterday, Spengler and Edoardo Mortara made their way to the final round but with the difference that the Audi driver got beaten and crashed.

Mortara was beaten by Spengler in the first five lap race of the final round. The second race saw Mortara trying hard to fight back, too hard in fact. Mortara hit the wall and stopped on track, blocking the track, forcing the red flags out and handing the victory to Spengler.

“I have given everything and I only made one mistake throughout the weekend. Too bad that it happened in the finale. That was it. But it also shows that we are on the limit all the time and that a little mistake can have a huge effect. Still, I have enjoyed the weekend in Munich very much,” said Mortara.

The earlier races also saw a couple of crashes, including Ralf Schumacher in the first race and David Coulthard in the quarter final.

Note that the Munich round does not award points for the championship.
