First ever DTM pole position for Miguel Molina
Spanish Audi driver Miguel Molina pulled off a surprise pole position in the DTM qualifying session at Oschersleben.
“It wasn’t easy, but we did it. Now, we are fighting for victory on Sunday. Today was just the beginning. I am very emotional and I thank my team and my family,” said Molina.
Molina secured pole with one thousand of a second ahead of Mercedes’ main title hope Bruno Spengler.
Oliver Jarvis claimed third ahead of double DTM champion Mattias Ekström. Timo Scheider made it four Audis in the top five, with Jamie Green second best Mercedes driver in sixth.
Ralf Schumacher was seventh fastest ahead of Edoardo Mortara, Maro Engel and Mike Rockenfeller.
Championship leader Martin Tomczyk had a nightmare session and is going to start 15th tomorrow after failing to make it to Q2. Gary Paffet had an even worse session and failed to complete a lap due to an engine misfire and the Brit is going to start last.
