Audi claims clean sweep in TouringCarTimes DTM Awards

Audi claimed a clean sweep in the 2011 DTM TouringCarTimes Awards where they were voted best by the readers of TouringCarTimes in all four categories of best driver, rookie, car and team. Team ABT Sportsline clinched the team title with just one percent more than Team Phoenix.
“Thank you to all readers of TouringCarTimes.com. We are very glad to win the best team award – especially as this vote was given by the fans,” said Hans-Jürgen Abt.

Reigning champion Martin Tomczyk claimed the best driver award with 40% of the votes ahead of Mattias Ekström on 17% and Bruno Spengler on 11%.

The TouringCarTimes DTM Rookie Award went to Audi newcomer Edoardo Mortara. The Italian claimed no less than 58% of the votes with Filipe Albuquerque closest in second on 19%.
“It’s a great honor for me being voted as the ‘2011 best rookie’. I would like to thank TouringCarTimes.com and all Fans that voted for me. Last season was pretty positive for me. I learned a lot and I hope to improve and get better for 2012,” said Mortara.

The Audi A4 DTM claimed a decisive victory in the vote of best car against the Mercedes C-Class. 75% of the TouringCarTimes readers voted the Audi as the best car.
“In 2012, a new era will begin in DTM. The accolade is an extra motivation for our drivers, engineers and mechanics to turn up the heat in the battle with our friends from BMW and Mercedes,” said Abt.
