Phoenix Racing wins at Bathurst with Audi R8
DTM Audi team Phoenix Racing won the Armor All Bathurst 12 Hours with drivers Darryl O’Young, Christopher Mies and Christer Jöns.
“The team was tremendous. The cooperation between quattro GmbH and Phoenix Racing was fantastic. As well as for Phoenix, Australia was new territory for Christer Jöns, who did a first-class job of driving. For me, it’s been one of my toughest races due to the constantly changing conditions,” said O’Young.
The trio fought in tricky weather conditions with rain and fog against the Erebus Racing Mercedes and the Clearwater Racing Ferrari.
Phoenix Racing crossed the line over a minute ahead of the Mercedes and two laps ahead of the Ferrari.
O’Young, who finished third in the FIA WTCC Independents’ Trophy last year, won the Bathurst 12 Hours last year as well.
