Green tops super close test session ahead of Tomczyk

Norisring expert Jamie Green topped a super close second practice session ahead of the fifth DTM race of 2012. The Mercedes driver was just nine thousands of a second ahead of BMW driver and reigning champion Martin Tomczyk. A total of eight cars were within one tenth of a second during the session.

Championship leader Gary Paffett claimed third fastest time ahead of Bruno Spengler in fourth, making it Mercedes-BMW-Mercedes-BMW in the top four.

Mattias Ekström was once again best Audi driver in fifth, right ahead of Ralf Schumahcer in the HWA Mercedes AMG C-Coupé.

Two BMW drivers occupied positions seven to eight with Augusto Farfus Jr and Dirk Werner. Edoardo Mortara and Filipe Albuquerque rounded off the top ten.

The track was repaired during the night after parts of the surface started to break up yesterday due to the hot temperatures. The schedule for today was moved for the first support class test sessions, with qualifying starting at 15.10 CET.
