Mercedes pit crew member remains in hospital
Four Mercedes pit crew members were injured in an accident during the first free practice session at Zandvoort yesterday. Ralf Schumacher’s rear wing caught some parts of the pit lane equipment while exiting the pits, hitting four members of the HWA team.
The four pit crew members were taken to hospital after the incident and three of them have been released while one remains for treatment, according to Autosport.
Mercedes issued a statement regarding the incident yesterday:
“Four members of the team were taken to hospital following an initial checkover at the medical centre. Three have returned to the circuit, but one is still in hospital. The injuries are not major and not life-threatening, but they are still in hospital for further checks.”
