Mortara on top in Oschersleben Warm Up

Edoardo Mortara emerged as the fastest in this morning’s Warm-Up session. The Italian was ahead of pole man Bruno Spengler, who was just 85 thousandths slower than the Audi. Spengler was followed by another Audi, as Miguel Molina finished in third ahead of Robert Wickens.

Mattias Ekström came fifth ahead of championship leader Gary Paffett, as both drivers were about three tenths slower than Mortara. Mike Rockenfeller came seventh ahead of Dirk Werner, the last man to be under half a second slower than the best lap time. Werner was also the best BMW apart from Spengler, confirming the strong form of the Canadian.

Adrien Tambay and a surprising Susie Wolff rounded off the top ten, while BMW Team RBM boys Augusto Farfus and Andy Priaulx were eleventh and twelfth respectively, the two separated by a mere nine thousandths.

Title contender Jamie Green didn’t make it to the top ten and finished the session in fourteenth, while Martin Tomczyk, who will start from eleventh after having qualified in sixth, clocked the eighteenth best laptime, almost a second off the pace.

The race starts at 14.00 CET.
